Tempered Glass

Tempered glass will deliver four times the strength of annealed glass, as well as the ability to "disintegrate" into small pieces when broken, minimizing the risk of injury, minimizing safety concerns.

Glass tempering involves reheating annealed glass which is then cooled with an intense air flow to increase strength.  Tempered glass is ideal for any area where high traffic and human contact is a concern.  Areas such as commercial store fronts, entryways, display cases, railing , skylights, patio doors, shower and tub enclosures, and fireplace surrounds.

Most plants have the ability to temper 3.3mm to 19mm with an oven size capacity of 86" X 144".  The tempered glass we supply conforms to all Canadian and American standards regulating tempered glass: CGSB-12.1, ANST Z97.1 and 16 CFR 1201.11.  We also follow the recommendations set forth by ASTM c-1036 and ASTM c-1048.

Heat Stengthened Glass

Heat strengthening is a process by which annealed glass is reheated, then cooled quickly in order to increase its resistance to thermal stresses.  The resulting heat strengthened glass is twice as strong as annealed glass of equal thickness and offers significantly greater resistance to thermal loads.

Heat strengthened glass is perfect for many commercial applications, including spandrels, laminated skylights, and windows in high wind load areas.
